How to get to Graben, Vienna

Being centrally located within Vienna it is each to reach the Graben and anywhere

From the International Airport

File:Wien 30 Flughafen Wien Terminal 2 a.jpgJust 20 minutes outside the city center the Vienna International Aiport is beside the Donau river and is well connected by the Ost Autobahn to the city.  It takes about 20 minutes to drive from the Airport to the Graben.

Or you can take public transport. Both bus 1185 and the Rail and subway systems can take you.

From the airport busterminal, the Flughafen Wien Busterminal, take the 1185 directly into the city. It goes all the way to Wien Morzinplatz.  From the bus stop you should walk back along the river bank to the main Rotenturmstrasse which is 600 meters until the Graben.

Alternatively take the S7 suburban train from the airport as far as Wien Mitte-Landstrasse. And there change to the Underground rail service. It is one stop from Landstrasse to Stephansplatz which is right at one end of the Graben.

From Naschmarkt

Although both major shopping areas of course the Naschmarkt and the Graben show quite different characters. Though it is interesting to reflect that the fresh fruits and vegetables sold today at Naschmarkt are exactly the produce which was sold in the Graben in medieval times!

The two are within easy, and interesting, walking distance.  The total walk is only about one km whether you walk along the Operngasse or Kartnerstrass.
