Restaurants

With all that food available at the Food Stalls in the Naschmarkt is hard to go there without becoming hungry!  Smells of Sauerkraut, Olives, Vinegar, Kebabs, Cinnamon sticks and fresh Vanilla are all around to increase your appetite.  Of course you can buy from the stalls and create your own hand meal to take away while you browse, particularly a good idea on Saturday if you have come to see the flea market, but there are also plenty of places to sit and eat.

Restaurants in the market

Walk from the Karlsplatz south-west towards the carpark and as you go the stalls on the right side are mostly the restaurants with seating.  As you walk away from the city center you will find that the food choices become cheaper but perhaps more basic, so stop when you have arrived at a level which is comfortable for you.

Restaurants beside the market

As well as restaurants in the market there are many more sophisticated eateries in the buildings that line the market.  Try these options.

  • For the authentic Viennese coffeehouse experience try Café Amacord or Café Drechsler
  • Or Theatercafé for a Viennese take on a French bistro.
SHOPPING AND FOOD

Originally a fresh produce market the Naschmarkt today is a key open dining area. So whether you want to sit, eat, and people-watch, or buy ready-made dishes to take away, or fresh produce to create your own culinary masterpieces this is the place to visit
